How to stake with iBERA

Staking BERA with your own validator on Berachain is an intensive process for the average user. It requires running your own validator operation, managing that validator, and at least a 32 BERA stake. iBERA lets you stake your BERA without the hassle.

This guide walks you through how to stake BERA for iBERA and start earning rewards from Infrared’s validator set.

What is iBERA?

iBERA is a liquid staking token (LST) for BERA, Berachain’s gas and staking token. It allows users to stake BERA with Infrared, receive iBERA in return, and earn staking rewards—all while keeping their funds liquid.

Designed as an index token, iBERA compounds staking yield automatically. This yield is realized either through iBERA’s price appreciation or by withdrawing from the system.

Before starting

BERA and iBERA are not the same asset. You’ll always need to keep some BERA left over in your wallet to pay for gas fees on the network.

⚠️ Temporary notice: Unstaking is currently unavailable as the network stabilizes and moves toward full functionality. Users will be updated when withdrawals become available, but in the meantime, iBERA can be sold at any time.

Staking BERA

Staking your BERA for iBERA is quite simple. To start, open the Infrared app and navigate to the iBERA staking page. The modal will display the estimated APR and a stake input field. Enter the amount of BERA you’d like to stake.

Click Stake, follow the transaction prompts, and confirm. Once the transaction is complete, iBERA will be sent to your wallet.

Remember: once you hold iBERA, staking rewards accrue automatically—no further action needed. You can either hold iBERA or use it in DeFi for additional yield opportunities.
